I think we all benefit from revisiting and revising our classroom management skills from time to time. This article from edutopia.com, has a lot of great information. Its main purpose is to express what we already know - that effective classroom management stems from our positive and caring relationships with our students. It goes further to explain the psychological and sociological reasons for this. There are also a few helpful videos at the end of the article, with 'tips of the trade' that can be used in any classroom setting.

School Music is not a "frill."

This is a timely article for me, as the governor in my state has proposed a 10% cut to education. If we cut fine arts, sports, busses, middle schools, everyone's salaries by 5.25% and got rid of a substantial number of our administrators ... we would still not arrive at 10 million.
